Paint calculator
How much wall paint, how many rolls of wallpaper, how many packs of laminate? Enter your room sizes – the calculator subtracts doors and windows, suggests tin sizes and turns it all into a shopping list. For every room at once, right in your browser.
The calculator needs JavaScript. Without it: how to calculate by hand.
How the calculator works
- Wall area = perimeter × room height − doors (each 1.78 m²) − windows (each 1.62 m²) − other openings.
- Paint = area × coats × surface factor ÷ coverage + extra. Tins: the combination that covers the need with little left over and few tins.
- Wallpaper = drops (perimeter without door widths ÷ roll width) ÷ drops per roll (roll length ÷ drop length, drop length rounded up to the pattern repeat) + spare roll.
- Flooring = floor area + waste (straight 8 %, diagonal 15 %, herringbone 18 %) ÷ m² per pack; skirting boards of 2.4 m each.
